A Knight's Tale

A Tale
A Knight's Tale is a film combined with comedy/action/romance. It is a great movie if you want laughs, a little medieval action, or a sweet romance story. It was directed and written by Brian Helgeland in 2001. The title of the movie was taken from The Knight's Tale, one of The Canterbury Tales by Geoffrey Chaucer (who is actually a character in the movie played by Paul Bettany). The plot however was not taken from Geoffrey Chaucer's story, it was completely made up by Brian Helgeland. The music in the movie is awesome! It really gets you into the film. It's classic rock songs range from Queen's "We Will Rock You" to Thin Lizzy's "The Boys Are Back in Town". It's like a medieval time era turned into a futuristic era, which makes it so funny.

T
he Knight's Tale
The setting is in medieval Europe in the 1370s when tournaments were a big thing. A young squire named William Thatcher (Heath Ledger) joins the jousting and sword fighting in the tournaments after the death of his master Sir Ector. Unfortunately, it is forbidden for anyone who is not of noble birth to compete, but with the help of Williams friends they might be able to pull it off. While on their journey to the championship tournament William meets Lady Jocelyn (Shannyn Sossamon), who he quickly falls for, and another knight, Count Adhemar (Rufus Sewell), a
competitive rival of both the sport of jousting and the fair Lady Jocelyn.

Knights, Nobles, and Peasants
The assorted cast introduces a few new upcoming actors/actresses. Among those new actors/actresses are Heath Ledger and Shannyn Sossamon. Alan Tudyk, Mark Addy, and Paul Bettany play Ledger's hilarious friends in the film, while Rufus Sewell, Laura Fraser, and James Purefoy also play important roles.

Funny, Great, Funny
A Knight's Tale is one of the funniest movies I've seen, and it never gets old. It is actually one of the few movies I can watch over and over again and it still is funny. The cast really completes the whole movie along with the jousting tournaments and the music. This movie remains one of my all time favorites, and it probably will stay one of my all time favorites.
